WBO concludes Manny Pacquiao topped Timothy Bradley

Five independent judges hired by the World Boxing Organization became the latest to conclude that Manny Pacquiao defeated Timothy Bradley when they fought for the welterweight title on June 9 in Las Vegas.

WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel announced on June 13 he would have a panel of what he called "five international judges" review the scoring of the highly controversial bout. Bradley won a split decision and ended Pacquiao's seven-year winning streak in a result that outraged the sporting world. Even Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he thought Pacquiao won the fight.

Men who drink lots tea likely to develop cancer

Men who drink lots of tea are far more likely to develop prostate cancer, researchers have warned. They found that those who drank seven or more cups a day had a 50 per cent higher risk of contracting the disease than men who had three or fewer. 

The warning comes after scientists at the University of Glasgow tracked the health of more than 6,000 men for four decades. Their findings run counter to previous research, which had suggested that tea-drinking lowers the risk of cancer, as well as heart disease, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. 


Its results were based on the Midspan Collaborative Study, which started in Scotland in 1970 when 6,016 men aged between 21 and 75 were asked detailed questions about their lifestyle, including daily tea intake, then monitored for up to 37 years. 


The study team found 6.4 per cent of those who consumed at least seven cups of tea per day contracted prostate cancer compared to 4.6 per cent of those who drank three cups at most.

UAE Temperature to reach 50 degrees

The UAE has been suffering from the severe heat for the last several days and ground level temperature has exceeded beyond 50 degrees Celsius in some internal areas. Humidity could test people’s nerves in the coastal areas by moving up and down between 20 per cent and 95 per cent at times. Wind is expected to blow at the speed of 32 to 38 km/h in the coastal and internal areas.
