New Lens from Sigma APO 200-500mm f/2.8

Sigma Corporation have announced the release of a new telephone lense and DSLR compact body. Already a real contender for your lens money, Sigma Corporation seem to have their sites set on getting more of the camera dollars too.
New Telephoto Lens from SigmaSigma has announced the launch of what is claimed to be the ultimate telephoto lens. The APO 200-500mm f2.8 and is the world’s first lens to offer an f/2.8 aperture at the 500mm focal length. It also comes with an “attachment” that gives users an option to use the lens at 400-1000mm at f/5.6.
Not for faint hearted, the lens weighs in at a mammoth 16kgs and uses its own separate Li-ion battery to provide power for focusing and zooming. The lens will be available in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts and priced around $25,000 so if you are a astrophotographer, wildlife or sports shooter, this is one piece of gear to start saving for.Sigma launches a DSLR in a compact bodySigma has been busy and also announced the launch of the DP-1, a compact camera with a 14 megapixel FOVEON X3 sensor which is around 7-12 times larger than those found in ordinary compacts. This should improve the image quality and performance of the camera at higher ISO and significantly set it apart from it peers. The camera comes with a fixed 16.6mm, F/4 lens designed exclusively for the DP-1. Worth a look!
