Sharjah National Paint Roundabout Traffic conggestion to ease

After living in Sharjah near the National paint roundabout for more than 3 years for a very first time I heard and read a good news.

News stated that the Ministry of Public Works revamps it with the addition of two more lanes on the flyover in each direction in two years' time.

A senior official at the ministry said roadworks at National Paints roundabout will start by the end of June. Motorists will be able to use the existing lanes on the bridge.

"Emirates Road was built five years ago and today we are improving it by adding five interchanges on this main road, to meet the [Abu Dhabi] strategic plan of 2030," Dr Abdullah Bilhaif Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Public Works, said yesterday.

The first phase of preliminary roadworks at Maleha area and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Interchange was carried out in October 2010.

The second phase consists of upgrading the three interchanges of University City, Sharjah Ring Road and Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed.

The third phase will also focus on upgrading and widening the interchanges of National Paints and Sharjah Bypass Road. The whole project is expected to be completed in 750 days.

Filipino sentenced to death pardons by Saudi King

MANILA, Philippines (by AP) — The Philippine government says the king of Saudi Arabia has agreed to spare the life of a Filipino man who was sentenced to death for drug smuggling.

Foreign Affairs spokesman Eduardo Malaya said Tuesday that the man who received a royal pardon was expected to return to the Philippines shortly.

The man, an overseas worker, has not been identified due to privacy concerns. He was to be beheaded in 2009 after being convicted of smuggling methamphetamine into the conservative kingdom after Saudi authorities seized a package that was mailed to him containing the illegal drugs.

BlackBerry services to be limit in UAE

DUBAI (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates will stop individuals and small businesses accessing the most private data services offered by BlackBerry, a UAE newspaper said, but the government said no services would be disrupted to any subscribers.
BlackBerry Bold

Only businesses with 20 or more subscriptions will be allowed to use high security accounts on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, which allows for services such as highly secure corporate email, The National newspaper reported on Saturday.

The move comes months after the UAE dropped a threat to suspend BlackBerry services after resolving a dispute over access with Canada's Research In Motion.

It also coincides with efforts by Arab states to stem rolling pro-democracy revolts, largely organized on social media, that have hit all but two Gulf states, the UAE and Qatar.

Citing a ruling by the UAE's telecoms regulator, The National said that small businesses would still be able to use the BlackBerry Internet Service, which does not rely on private servers, as well as encrypted messaging.

UAE officials had no immediate comment but the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said on its website that BlackBerry services including messenger, email and internet browsing would continue without disruption to all customers.

It said it would clarify "any confusion" in the coming week, but gave no further details. The paper said the ruling would come into effect on May 1 2011.

Men in Black III

After nearly a decade away from movie screens, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are suiting up again to become "Men in Black." After the first two films made over $1 billion worldwide, it was just a matter of time before they put on their shades and fought aliens again.

In the third movie Smith's character, Agent J, goes back in time to 1969 and encounters the younger version of Jones's Agent K, played by Brolin.  From the looks of the pictures, it seems that Brolin has stepped into Jones's patent leather shoes just fine. In many ways, Josh Brolin was a natural choice to step in as the earlier incarnation of Tommy Lee Jones.
